Mix is more than a mix album and could be described as a soundtrack or
soundscape to the mid-90`s trance / psy-trance scene, a sound pioneered
by dj`s such as Sven Vath. Featuring an uplifting mix of classic dance
music from across genres blended seamlessly with emotional film score
music from Bladerunner (Vangelis) and Dracula (Killar), The Goa Mix is a
legendary piece of dance music history. The Goa Mix 2011 has been
totally re-crafted and re-recorded for an album release and is spread

unusual compilation featuring experimental compositions written by
SubConsciousMind (Raphael Huber) and a diverse assortment of musical
collaborators. These free-flowing tunes are the result of creative
encounters over an eleven year time span, from 1999 through to 2010. No
plans were adhered to when the friends met in the studio and no attempts
were made to conform to any particular style. This is a journey through
time where electronic music meets voice, violin, guitar, cello, and
more. Friends featured here include Shmau (Andrea Widmer-Pfeifer), Yade
(Linda Hertl), Human (Human Sahebi), Psylence (Christian Rupp), Flowair
(Florian Weber), Andi Luchsinger, Judith Zimmermann, and Luca Preite.

Technical Info:
"Flying Nomad" was arranged with Cubase VST5.
All the sound design was done with a Virus A, a Roland JP8000, a
Doepfer MS-404. Effects came from an Alesis Midiverb 4 and a Studio
Quad. Mixed on an analog Behringer desk and recorded on DAT tape. 1999.
"Bruchsch das" & "El Oriental" was arranged with a MPC-2000XL.
Synths used were a Virus A and a Roland TB-303. Effects came from an
Alesis Midiverb 4. The Guitar came through some Boss multi effect. The
violin was recorded with a piezo directly connected to a mixer in
"Bruchsch das" and through a preamp from the Doepfer Modular System in
"El Oriental". Mix was done on a Yamaha 03D digital mixer and recorded
into a computer running wavelab. The songs have been played "live".
Actually "El Oriental" is more or less one of the first takes of some
improvisation over two 16 bar loops!  2000.
"Substance" was created in Cubase SX1. Some sounds came from a Waldorf Micro Q and a Virus A. 2002.
"What lies behind" was created in Cubase SX2. a Virus B was used too.
2004. Vocals recorded with a Studio Project Tube Mic through a TL-Audio
C1. 2004
"Beautiful" was created in Cubase SX3. a Virus TI was used too. 2004.

2007
"Desperation Symphony" was created in Cubase 4. UAD and Spectrasonics
Plugins dominated. The violin was recorded with a piezo directly into an
RME Fireface 800 (which I don't recommend).
"Wush You Good Bye" was created in Cubase 5. Some Virus TI, UAD, Rob Pappen and Spectrasonics Plugins dominated.

this was fun to compile. After suddenly getting backcat license
requests for the next Paul Oakenfold Goa mix cd and also old school Goa
Trance comps on Sony, Ministry of Sound and others we realised we
weren´t on our own in appreciation for the early sounds. Our DJ´s are
getting booked to play retro Goa sets. Up on chats on facebook etc we
discovered that there is a bit of a revival in the early sounds that
defined a genre and a lifestyle for hundreds of thousands of people from
around the world. And almost no one can compile an album of these early
Goa Trance party classics like Tip Records can. These 10 tunes are the
real deal. Genre defining classics and great musical nuggets of history.
The hard part was keeping it to 10….we already have a part 2 lined up.
We then dug deep to find some old screen printed sleeves, posters,
limited edition single art and white labels to use in the artwork. All
packaged up with sleeve notes about the tracks. Highlights are
