I have just sat down and listened to three
SLAMMING tracks, which is not the best thing because once again MMD have
brought out another insane EP featuring some new signings as well as a
collaboration and a remix by Zion Linguist. This has pretty much gotten
me so amped for an outdoor I dont know what to do with myself, but
enough of that. Lets get chatting about the V.A. I have to say, I really
enjoyed the previous Digital Breed, but I think this one tops the last
one. This one is more powerful, more in your face, slamming psychedelic
trance! Plus I found out the Technodrome/Zion Linguist track is one of
my favourites from past parties but just never knew who it was by (you
have to get this track, its so sick)
I started off listening to A Mush and was completely blown away. I have
never heard of this guy before but knowing MMD they wouldn’t throw just
anybody onto one of their VA’s. This song is one of those songs that
gets your feet tapping from the start, very dirty AZAX sound mixed with
the sounds you’d hear the Jester usually throw down! I love the tweaked
vocal samples used in this track too… Make sure you get your hands on
this!
Shehoor is a French Producer/DJ who recently joined the MMD ranks. His
track Blue Demon for the V.A is probably the darkest track of the three.
A solid bassline with a twisted riff throughout and my goodness, it’s
rocking! Once again, Shehoor is an unfamiliar name to me, so I didn’t
know what to expect but the production on this one with the little build
up’s, massive breaks and the dark, evil background sound will make you
want to stomp a hole in the floor… Perfect 4am sound!
I saved the best for last, the collaboration between Zion Linguist &
Technodrome (one of my favourite producers, I would do ANYTHING to see
this guy in Cape Town). The track is called Psycho Driver with a Zion
Linguist remix on it. You can hear how Zion’s very distinct sound in the
remix. I love the original and never knew who it was by until I got
hold of the VA from Archive! This remix is massive, this will destroy
dancefloor’s on any wine farm across the Cape I can tell you that much.
Got that very eerie sound in the beginning which progresses into one of
the sickest build up’s. This song is going to be slammed A LOT in the
summer, thats for sure! Got such a South African sound to it, I love it! Filesonic Fileserve Depositfiles
